Open Standards Like FHIR Enable Tissue Analytics to Improve Wound Care

A new video discusses how Intermountain Healthcare has embraced open standards like FHIR that allow it to integrate innovative digital health products into its EMR. Thanks to these open standards, one of the upstart companies Intermountain has worked with is Dreamit HealthTech alum Tissue Analytics.

Tissue Analytics, which participated in the Fall 2014 Dreamit HealthTech cohort, developed a mobile app and enterprise software platform that enables providers to better evaluate and monitor chronic wounds, burns, and skin conditions.

Prior to Tissue Analytics, doctors and nurses largely used rulers to measure wound size. While determining wound size with a ruler typically results in about a 44% measurement error, Tissue Analytics’ product decreases this measurement error to less than 4%. At the same time, the product helps doctors and nurses reduce documentation time by 5 - 10 minutes per patient.

Health systems like Intermountain Healthcare work with Tissue Analytics because it improves workflows, cuts down on medical errors, and improves care.
