RaySecur Closes $3M Seed Funding Round
RaySecur (Dreamit Securetech Spring 2019) closed a $3M seed funding round. The startup’s mission is to be the first line of defense to safely detect suspicious powders and liquids, as well as conventional mail threats. RaySecur’s technology can detect such threats in extremely small quantities, even as small as 2% of a teaspoon.
According to RaySecur’s Threat Center Data, 10 times a day somebody sends a suspicious powder, liquid, or other hazard via the U.S. mail. The U.S. postal service intercepts up to 3,500 packages in the U.S. each year. Thus far, RaySecur has tracked about 600 threats to date. Their clients include celebrities, government agencies, and leading Fortune 500 companies.
The United States Department of Homeland Security designated their MailSecur device as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology in early 2018. The company has been growing since as a result of its breakthrough technology. Their products are user friendly and less harmful than commonly used X-ray imaging. Their technology is based on millimeter waves that avoid the harmful ionizing radiation of X-ray imaging, and has 300 times greater sensitivity to detect hazardous substances. Not only is this product more effective, but it also fixes that which traditional X-ray imaging can not.
RaySecur’s CEO, Alexander Sappok, Ph.D. comments on the fact that not only has the company achieved market success but, “the investment from this seed round validates our MailSecur product and allows us to capitalize on this momentum and execute our growth strategy to deliver cutting-edge security imaging and make the world a safer place.”
